There can’t be many designers out there that haven’t wanted to create their own font at one point or another. It’s up there with getting your own t-shirts printed, it’s just a cool thing to do.
I was digging around the internet and I found this great little site www.myscriptfont.com which converts your handwriting into a font. It’s a great starting point as there aren’t that many great handwriting style fonts out there and it’s a pretty quick process. How long can it take to write out the alphabet?
All you have to do is print out the font sheet, write your characters into the relevant spaces, scan it, upload it and you’re done. I couldn’t believe how fast the whole process was.
I gave it a quick test drive with my own handwriting and a pen I had kicking about – without further ado, I give you Dickie…
The beauty of this is that it puts a whole host of fonts at your disposal – I’ve been handing out the font sheets for people in the office to write in just so that I have even more fonts.
If you’d like to download Dickie to use on your projects, just click the button below – you can use the font for whatever you like, but please don’t redistribute it.
If you’d like, you can also grab my other free font here…
